About The Position

The Birthday Party Attendant supports the YMCA’s work as a nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The role provides excellent customer service to members, guests, and program participants while creating a welcoming, enjoyable environment and memorable birthday party experiences.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Related experience required.
• Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends.
• Must complete CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, New Employee Orientation, and online trainings within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Passion for working with young children.
• Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
• High level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
• Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities, including the ability to lift 50 pounds and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; occasional stooping or bending is required.
• Must maintain a neat and professional appearance and demonstrate initiative and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead event activities in a way that promotes a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Execute activity plans to create memorable experiences for event guests.
• Interact in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner with volunteers, staff, parents, and participants.
• Supervise and participate in activities with children.
• Implement curriculum and activity plans within established guidelines.
• Explain and enforce YMCA policies and procedures positively, including giving safety briefings and ensuring policies are followed.
• Maintain required program records and identify equipment needs.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected circumstances to better meet the needs of members and their children.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
