Bindery Operator
About The Position
Modern Litho is a local, family-owned printing company with over 85 years of experience in commercial printing. The Bindery Operator is a key member of finishing operations, responsible for completing work safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The operator sets up, operates, and oversees finishing equipment according to job specifications, takes ownership of production flow, addresses issues proactively, maintains equipment performance, and supports team success. The schedule is a 12-hour rotating day shift, working either Monday through Wednesday or Thursday through Saturday. The role offers an additional $2 per hour shift differential and overtime may be available.
Requirements
- Prior bindery machine operation or comparable experience is preferred.
- Be quality-minded and attentive to detail.
- Be able to read and understand job tickets and production instructions.
- Have mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Have strong attendance, work ethic, and reliability.
- Be willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment.
- Have basic computer skills for data entry and job tracking.
- Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, and standing activities for the entirety of the shift.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate bindery equipment according to job specifications.
- Stitch, punch, coil, cut, glue, laminate, mount, and grommet materials.
- Follow job tickets and written instructions to meet customer requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning, basic preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Enter time and material data into production tracking systems.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet deadlines.
- Follow standard work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
