Bindery Operator
About The Position
Modern Litho is a local, family-owned printing company specializing in commercial printing. The Bindery Operator is a key leader in finishing operations, responsible for setting up, operating, and overseeing bindery equipment according to job specifications. The role takes ownership of production flow, addresses issues proactively, maintains equipment performance, and supports the team in completing work safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The position works a 12-hour rotating schedule, three days per week, on the day shift, with an additional $2 per hour shift differential. Overtime is available, and the employee must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand job tickets and production instructions.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong attendance, work ethic, and reliability.
- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Must have basic computer skills for data entry and job tracking.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and perform pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, and standing activities for the entirety of the shift.
- Must be quality-minded and pay attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Prior bindery machine operation or comparable experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate bindery equipment according to job specifications.
- Stitch, punch, coil, cut, glue, laminate, mount, and grommet materials.
- Follow job tickets and written instructions to meet customer requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning, basic preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Enter time and material data into production tracking systems.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet deadlines.
- Follow standard work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
