About The Position
The Bindery Operator 1 works at the South Plant in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating a single piece of machinery while monitoring equipment safety, product quality, output, and productivity. The operator participates in training to prepare for promotion to a Lead Operator position, learns to use tools to measure and adjust machinery to target levels, and performs preventative maintenance tasks as required. The role also supports the Lead Operator by helping guide crew members, working as part of a team, and cross-training with others. Work hours are 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., with a 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. schedule when overtime is worked. The employer provides training and all necessary tools.
Requirements
- Ability to do basic math.
- Computer knowledge.
- Ability to lift 20–50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate a single piece of machinery.
- Participate in training to prepare for promotion to a Lead Operator position.
- Inspect equipment for safety issues.
- Monitor quality, output, and productivity.
- Learn to use tools to measure and adjust machinery to target levels.
- Learn and engage in preventative maintenance tasks as required.
- Assist the Lead Operator with providing guidance to crew members.
- Work in a team environment and cross-train with others.
