Bike Mechanic

About The Position

Motivate is seeking Bike Mechanics to assist with bike assembly, maintenance, and repair. Training in technical and unique aspects of bikeshare bikes will be provided. Starting schedules are 2–3 days per week, including weekend days, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Schedules may change as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on business needs. The role involves working indoors at a bike repair depot or outdoors in the field on an assigned route. Bike Mechanics help ensure bikeshare system operations run efficiently and safely. This position is part of a bargaining unit, and its employment terms and conditions are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude and comfort completing repairs.
Commitment to safe work practices.
Willingness to work interchangeably outdoors, traveling by bike throughout the station network, and indoors in bike repair depots.
Dependability and ability to work scheduled shifts, including off-hours and/or weekends as needed.
Ability to lift and push or pull up to 75 pounds, and to stoop, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods during a shift.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience and familiarity with bicycles or similar mechanical repairs.

Responsibilities

Complete bike maintenance, inspections, and repairs professionally and promptly, with a focus on quality, productivity, and safety.
Work indoors at a bike repair depot or in the field on an assigned route.
Keep detailed and accurate repair records using a smartphone.
Stock, organize, and use repair tools, supplies, and other equipment.
Follow standard operating procedures and repair methods.
Follow safety regulations and protocols, and promptly report safety concerns to management.
