About The Position

STS Aerospace in Laconia, New Hampshire, is seeking a Bend Trainee to fabricate, shape, bend, and assemble metal products for aircraft applications. The employee is expected to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

The role involves working with engineering on layouts, operating sequences, templates, and fixtures; marking and bending workpieces; operating fabrication machinery; preparing and inspecting bent tubes; and fitting parts together to meet specifications. The employee must be dependable and punctual and able to perform basic calculations involving ovality and arc lengths. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to determine ovality and arc lengths.
• Consistent, regular, and predictable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineering to develop layouts and sequences of operations.
• Work with engineering to design and construct templates and fixtures.
• Locate and mark bending and cutting lines on workpieces.
• Set up and operate fabrication machines, including benders, grinders, saws, cutters, presses, and collet swagers.
• Cut, deburr, and size bent tubes, verifying conformity with fixtures or mylars as needed.
• Position, align, and fit parts together.
• Verify that workpieces conform to specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
