About The Position

The Bell Ringer is a seasonal position supporting the Salvation Army Kittanning Worship & Service Center’s community fundraising during the 2025 holiday season, from November through Christmas Eve. Bell Ringers work at designated locations outside local businesses, encouraging donations to support families and others in need. The role involves engaging with the public in a friendly, cheerful manner and representing the organization positively. The position is offered part-time or full-time, with a flexible schedule, and is performed in person.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of people.
A friendly, approachable personality and enthusiasm for the cause.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Commitment to upholding the organization’s values and representing it positively in the community.

Nice To Haves

Previous customer service or volunteer experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Stand at designated locations during scheduled shifts, ringing a bell to attract attention and encourage donations.
Engage passersby in a friendly and inviting manner, sharing information about the cause and its impact on the community.
Maintain a positive demeanor during challenging weather conditions or periods of low foot traffic.
Ensure the donation kettle is secure and promptly report any issues to the supervisor.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe environment for oneself and the public.
Assist with setting up and taking down donation stations as needed.
