About The Position

AlphaBEST Education provides extended day, summer, and enrichment programs designed to inspire and engage students as they discover and learn beyond the school day in a fun, safe environment. The Before and After School Group Leader helps shape meaningful before- and after-school experiences that support children’s learning, growth, and development. The role leads students through daily curriculum activities, prioritizes child safety, and helps maintain a clean, organized, supportive, and inclusive environment. The Group Leader builds relationships with teammates, children, families, and school staff. The position is at Suffolk Elementary Schools, including Nansemond Parkway Elementary School, and pays $16.00 per hour. Hours are Monday through Friday, with an AM shift from 6:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and a PM shift from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A $200 hiring bonus is offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (high school diploma or GED).
Must be at least 18 years old.
CPR and First Aid certification required.
At least 6 months of experience instructing children in a group setting.
Ability to work in a classroom setting with regular bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs.
Enjoy working with children in a structured, high-energy environment.
Take child safety seriously and follow procedures closely.
Be flexible, reliable, and ready to help wherever needed.

Responsibilities

Lead a group of students through daily curriculum activities in World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts.
Make child safety the top priority and follow procedures closely.
Keep the space clean and organized.
Help create an environment where children feel supported and included.
Build strong relationships with teammates, children, families, and school staff.
