About The Position

AlphaBEST is hiring a part-time Group Leader for its before- and after-school program for the 2026/2027 school year in Cumberland, Rhode Island. The role guides school-age students through engaging learning activities in a caring, family-oriented environment. AlphaBEST provides support and training. The schedule is weekdays, 6:45–9:00 a.m. and 2:30–6:00 p.m.; weekends are not required. Pay is $15.00 per hour. Part-time benefits, including health benefits, are available, along with an employee referral program and discounts on program tuition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years old.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs.
• Registration and full clearance from the state childcare licensing agency.
• Proof of experience meeting state childcare licensing regulations through one of the following: a related bachelor's or associate's degree; a one-year state- or nationally recognized credential related to school-age care; completion of 20 semester credits or 30 quarter credits at a college or university plus at least one year of qualifying teaching experience in a certified childcare center or comparable group care program; or at least two years of qualifying teaching experience, including at least one year as a teacher, in a certified childcare center or comparable group care program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers to encourage children's sense of wonder.
• Build on students' interests and talents to encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity.
• Provide a caring, family-oriented environment that fosters positive relationships among staff, children, and parents.
