About The Position

Whale’s Rib is seeking a driven Bartender to join its team. The Bartender mixes and serves drinks according to company recipes, provides cheerful and courteous guest service, maintains a clean and stocked bar, processes orders and payments accurately, and follows company safety, sanitation, and service procedures. The role also includes serving food according to the Server Job Description, completing shift changes and opening or closing duties, and recognizing when a guest may be intoxicated and a manager should be called.

Requirements

• Physically able to stand and walk for 100% of the shift.
• Able to reach, bend, stoop, stir, wipe, and shake drinks vigorously.
• Able to immerse hands in water frequently.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to speak, read, and write English.
• Able to read and write handwritten guest checks, notes, and similar materials.
• Complete and pass the Florida Responsible Vendor program in compliance with Whale’s Rib policies and Florida statutes.
• Complete and pass the food safety certification Vendor program in compliance with Whale’s Rib policies and Florida statutes.
• Able to request proper identification and manually calculate and determine guests’ ages.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training.
• Mix liquor and drink ingredients according to company recipes and measures.
• Serve guests cheerfully and courteously while maintaining a neat, clean, professional appearance.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and properly stocked bar.
• Verify correct drink pricing.
• Serve food according to the Server Job Description requisites.
• Know drink promotions and specials and answer guests’ questions clearly.
• Enter orders accurately and promptly into the POS system.
• Assess guests’ demeanor, identify intoxicated guests, and determine when to summon a manager.
• Collect payment by credit card, cash, or gift card; use the POS efficiently, verify transactions, and calculate and deliver correct change promptly.
• Perform shift changes, opening and closing duties, and assigned sidework.
