Whale's Rib Takeout/Food Runner
About The Position
The Takeout/Food Runner supports food and beverage service and curbside pickup at Whale's Rib. The role includes entering orders into the POS system, retrieving and delivering food and drinks, assisting fellow employees with table appearance and service, processing guest payments, and packing and verifying takeout orders with guests. The employee also performs shift-change, opening and closing duties, and assigned sidework while following company safety and sanitation policies. The position requires standing and walking throughout the shift, frequent reaching, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to communicate in English, work in a fast-paced environment, and have flexible availability. Required Florida responsible-vendor and food-safety certification programs must be completed and passed.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for 100% of the shift.
- Ability to reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
- Ability to deliver plates and clear tables, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to read and write handwritten guest checks and notes.
- Complete and pass the Florida Responsible Vendor program in compliance with Whale's Rib policies and Florida statutes.
- Complete and pass a food safety certification program in compliance with Whale's Rib policies and Florida statutes.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training.
- Support fellow employees with maintaining table appearance, running food and drinks, and other needs.
- Know food and beverage menus, items, promotions, and specials, and clearly answer guests’ questions.
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system.
- Retrieve food and drink orders from the kitchen or bar and deliver them to guests promptly.
- Collect payments by credit card, cash, or gift card; process transactions accurately in the POS system and promptly provide correct change.
- Perform shift changes, opening and closing duties, and assigned sidework.
- Pack and verify takeout orders with guests.
- Greet guests at the curbside pickup area.
