About The Position

Whale's Rib is seeking a driven Takeout/Food Runner to support guests and fellow employees. The role involves following safety and sanitation procedures, assisting with table service and food running, answering guest questions about menus and specials, processing orders and payments, and handling curbside pickup and takeout orders. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment and being available for flexible hours.

Requirements

• Be able to stand and walk for 100% of the shift.
• Be able to reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
• Be able to deliver plates and clear tables of plates and glasses, which may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Be able to speak, read, and write English.
• Be able to read and write handwritten guest checks and notes.
• Complete and pass the Florida Responsible Vendor program in compliance with Whale's Rib policies and Florida statutes.
• Complete and pass the food safety certification program in compliance with Whale's Rib policies and Florida statutes.
• Be able to work flexible hours.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training.
• Support fellow employees with maintaining table appearance and running food and drinks as needed.
• Know Food & Beverage menus, items, current promotions, and specials, and answer guests’ questions clearly.
• Accurately enter orders into the POS system.
• Retrieve food and drink orders from the kitchen or bar and deliver them to guests in a timely manner.
• Collect guest payments by credit card, cash, or gift card; use the POS system to ensure correct transactions, calculate change, and deliver correct change promptly.
• Perform shift changes, opening and closing duties, and assigned sidework.
• Pack and verify ToGo orders with the guest.
• Greet guests at the curbside pickup area.
