About The Position

The Bartender provides beverage service to Members and their guests while creating a welcoming, polished, and enjoyable club experience. The role prepares and serves beverages accurately and efficiently, maintains a clean and organized bar, and anticipates Member needs with a friendly, attentive demeanor. The Bartender represents Des Moines Golf and Country Club through professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to exceptional service in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Requirements

Previous bartending or hospitality experience required.
Knowledge of beverage preparation, service techniques, and responsible alcohol service practices.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact professionally with Members, guests, coworkers, and management.
Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
Reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Ability to stay organized, move quickly, and adapt as business volume changes.
Team-first mindset and willingness to help where needed.
Neat, professional appearance and respectful interactions with Members, guests, and coworkers.
Ability to lift and carry trays, dishes, and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Responsibilities

Greet Members and guests promptly and warmly, creating a positive first impression and welcoming atmosphere.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages according to established recipes, presentation standards, and service procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, beverage menus, and daily or seasonal offerings.
Provide attentive, personalized service, anticipate Member preferences, and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner.
Take and process beverage orders accurately; communicate and coordinate service with servers and other Food & Beverage team members.
Operate the point-of-sale system, process Member charges, and follow end-of-shift closeout procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar, beverage stations, glassware, tools, equipment, and service areas.
Monitor inventory, replenish supplies, and communicate shortages, equipment concerns, and other operational needs to management.
Follow alcohol service laws, responsible beverage service practices, food safety requirements, and Club policies.
Assist with club events, banquets, private functions, and other Food & Beverage operations as assigned.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code, grooming, attendance, and punctuality expectations.
Protect Member privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding Member information and Club business.
Work collaboratively with management and colleagues to support smooth operations and a consistent, high-quality Member experience.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
