About The Position
The Barista prepares coffee shop beverages and food, operates a cash register, and receives customer payments in a timely and efficient manner while providing courteous customer service. The role follows food safety, sanitation, cleaning, safety, and guest experience standards; maintains a clean, stocked department; and may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer needs. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
- Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- One year of retail or related experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Prepare coffee shop beverages by brewing, mixing, or blending them according to set standards.
- Prepare food items according to procedures.
- Handle food and beverages safely, follow established guidelines, and complete work in a clean environment.
- Operate the cash register to itemize purchases and process payments, including cash, checks, credit cards, gift certificates, and coupons.
- Stock items and rotate coffee items and merchandise displays.
- Maintain an understanding of current store programs and product locations.
- Understand and efficiently operate check-stand and coffee shop equipment.
- Notify the department lead or manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
- Comply with company policies for security, cash handling and drawer accounting, and product handling, including damaged or spoiled products.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked department that complies with company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.
- Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers, and model high service standards.
- Follow all PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
- Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
