About The Position
The Barista helps carry out and model the mission, principles, and touchstones of Scooter’s Coffee. This role calls for a positive attitude, a passion for the food and beverage industry, and enjoyment of working with people. As part of an energetic team of food and beverage enthusiasts, the Barista contributes to excellent customer service by preparing and serving specialty beverages, following recipes, and creating positive interactions with customers. The position requires working efficiently in a quick-paced environment, communicating professionally with customers and co-workers, and contributing to a positive team environment. The Barista must be able to work a flexible schedule and meet the physical and visual requirements of the role. Physical demands are generally low, with regular exertion of less than five pounds and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds. The work involves substantial reaching, standing, walking, talking, and hearing, in a mild-to-moderate noise environment. The employer is a Scooter’s Coffee franchisee. If hired, the franchisee—not Scooter’s Coffee—is the employee’s employer, and franchisees independently establish employment terms, wages, and benefits, which may vary.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Must deal professionally and tactfully with customers and co-workers at all times.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
- Must work efficiently in a quick-paced environment requiring multitasking and prioritization.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and reliable.
- Must be able to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Must be able to regularly exert less than five pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to perform substantial reaching, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work and inspect the work area.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of customer service experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Make and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards for food and beverage items.
- Speak and interact with new and regular customers.
- Use appropriate up-selling techniques.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work station.
- Follow health and safety guidelines.
- Perform other functions as directed.
