About The Position

The Barista prepares coffee and specialty drinks in accordance with Starbucks and Nugget procedures, using a comprehensive understanding of coffee blends, quality, and variety. The role welcomes and assists guests, accurately takes and prepares orders, handles payments, and promotes food items. It also involves maintaining clean, stocked, and attractive guest service, dining, and retail areas; completing opening and closing duties; receiving and organizing warehouse orders; and following safety requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations. The position requires regular, predictable attendance and effective communication with guests and team members.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
One year of guest service and cashier experience.
Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds.
Fine finger manipulation.

Responsibilities

Recite recipes from memory and prepare beverages accurately.
Welcome each guest in an upbeat, positive, and professional manner.
Upsell food items in accordance with restaurant standards.
Use standard kitchen equipment, including toasters, refrigerators, coolers, slicers, and blenders.
Take guest orders accurately and prepare them in a timely manner.
Collect payment according to cash-handling and comp procedures.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of front- and back-of-house areas; clear tables and counters and sweep the dining area without interfering with guests.
Stock retail areas and cold foods as needed, ensuring product expiration dates are current.
Clean and stock guest service areas with items such as creamer, sugar, napkins, and stir sticks.
Maintain an attractive presentation of Starbucks retail merchandise.
Perform opening and closing duties according to shift assignment.
Unload warehouse orders and stock them in designated storage areas while maintaining organization.
Maintain effective communication with all levels of the Nugget team and with guests.
Recognize team members who go above and beyond, using the Nugget’s recognition system.
Follow Nugget policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Work safely and maintain a safe environment for team members and guests.
Immediately report unsafe conditions and team member or guest incidents to Security, Management, and the Safety Manager.
Maintain a positive and professional image when representing the Nugget and encourage others to do the same.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
