About The Position

Philz is hiring a Barista in West Valley San Jose to help build culture and community while delivering warm, authentic, kind, positive, and passionate customer experiences. Baristas make drinks, prepare food orders, operate the register, and handle cleaning and stocking. Prior barista experience is not required; the company will provide training to candidates who are passionate about people and willing to learn. The position requires operating machines, tools, and equipment; making general visual observations for safety and work accuracy; remaining stationary for at least three hours; standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling; intermittently lifting up to 50 pounds and repetitively lifting 3 pounds to shoulder height; grasping, fingering, reaching, and exchanging information verbally. The estimated starting base hourly rate is $20.50–$21.50. Team members participate in a tip pool and may earn an average of $3.00 additional per hour. Candidates with relatives or close personal relationships currently employed by Philz may be subject to additional review for potential conflicts of interest, supervisory concerns, or impacts on team performance and morale.

Requirements

Passion for people and willingness to learn; prior barista experience is not required.
Ability to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.
Visual acuity to make general observations related to safety and accuracy of work.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 3 hours.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently and lift 3 pounds to shoulder height repetitively.
Ability to grasp, finger, and reach.
Ability to express or exchange information by spoken word.
