About The Position

Baristas at Blank Street help shape the customer experience by providing welcoming hospitality, preparing drinks, and contributing to smooth, detail-oriented cafe operations. As part of the founding Los Angeles team, the role offers influence over how Blank Street operates in the city and access to growth opportunities as the company expands. Baristas work closely with a team to serve a focused menu, prepare coffee and matcha, and create memorable customer interactions. The role includes maintaining a clean and organized cafe, following company and local health standards, supporting events and promotions with Operations and Marketing, and learning procedures for cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing. Baristas are expected to continue training, adapt as the company grows, and help improve team standards and processes. Part-time schedules are 15–25 hours per week across 3 days; full-time schedules are 30–40 hours per week across 4–5 days. Both schedules require availability for 2 peak days, defined as Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Weekend and holiday availability is preferred. The role requires standing for long periods and lifting 25 pounds or more.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position; hospitality or coffee experience preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to lift 25 pounds or more and stand for long periods.
Availability that meets the needs of the cafes.
Part-time schedule: 15–25 hours per week across 3 days, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
Full-time schedule: 30–40 hours per week across 4–5 days, including 2 peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about hospitality.
Adaptable and open-minded as the company evolves.
Strong attention to detail and ownership of shift operations.
Passion for coffee and/or matcha, and comfort working with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality, with the goal of turning customers into regulars.
Prepare drinks and contribute as part of the team using company equipment, coffee, and matcha.
Maintain a clean and organized environment in accordance with local Department of Health and Blank Street standards.
Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions.
Continue training, uphold and raise standards, and help improve processes.
Master and carry out procedures including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing.
