About The Position

Baristas at Blank Street help create the customer experience by providing welcoming hospitality, preparing drinks, and setting the tone for each visit. As part of the founding Los Angeles team, the role offers influence on how the brand operates locally and early access to growth opportunities as the company expands. Baristas work closely with a tight-knit team, serve a focused menu, and contribute to a high-quality, detail-oriented cafe environment.

The position includes a comprehensive barista accreditation and training program. Work expectations may change according to business needs; the description is not an exhaustive list of duties or qualifications.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in hospitality or coffee.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to lift 25 pounds or more and stand for long periods.
• Availability that meets cafe needs.
• Part-time schedule: 15–25 hours per week over 3 days, including 2 peak days.
• Full-time schedule: 30–40 hours per week over 4–5 days, including 2 peak days.
• Friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about hospitality.
• Adaptable and open-minded as the company evolves.
• Detail-oriented and takes pride in getting small details right.
• Acts with ownership to help shifts run smoothly and efficiently.
• Passionate about coffee and/or matcha and able to share that enthusiasm with customers.
• Comfortable working on a diverse team and bringing different personalities together.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging hospitality, with the aim of turning customers into regulars.
• Work as an integral member of the team, using the company’s coffee, matcha, and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment that meets local Department of Health and Blank Street standards.
• Partner with Operations and Marketing teams on events and promotions to reach new customers.
• Continue training and developing with the company, improving standards and processes.
• Master company procedures including cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing.
