About The Position

Blank Street Baristas serve a curated menu of coffee, matcha, and other cafe beverages with passion, precision, and exceptional hospitality. They create welcoming customer experiences, build community with customers and teammates, and prepare quality products in a fast-paced environment. The role involves working independently and collaboratively while following Blank Street’s product, service, food-safety, and brand standards. The position is available part time (15–25 hours per week, 3 days per week) or full time (30–40 hours per week, 4–5 days per week); both schedules require availability for two peak days: Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Weekend and holiday availability is preferred. Compensation is $16.50–$18.00 per hour plus tips. The job description notes that duties and expectations may change based on business needs.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position; hospitality or coffee experience preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to lift more than 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
Availability that meets cafe needs, including two peak days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) for either schedule.
Authorized to work in the United States; employment authorization is confirmed through Form I-9 and E-Verify.
Friendly, enthusiastic team player with a passion for customer service.
Able to manage time and priorities reliably, including during busy rush periods.
Passionate about making coffee, matcha, and other cafe beverages.
Strong independent problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills.
Curious, adaptable, and willing to learn.
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Comfortable with cash handling and maintaining store safety.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, welcoming, and engaging customer service, with the goal of building a regular customer base.
Prepare drinks using Blank Street’s coffee program, equipment, and products.
Complete required training and handle food and beverages properly to preserve freshness and quality.
Prevent product waste and follow or adjust par levels in response to business peaks and lows.
Maintain Local Department of Health standards.
Know and follow product, service, and brand training playbooks.
Participate in Operations and Marketing initiatives to increase foot traffic, attract customers, grow daily sales and operational profitability, and develop a loyal neighborhood customer base.
Handle cash and help maintain store safety.
Collaborate with teammates and contribute to a strong sense of community.
