About The Position

Shorty’s North Shore is looking for an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Bar Manager to join our management team. This role is for a full-time, salaried management position. Shorty’s North Shore is a high-volume bar and restaurant with over 30 TVs, DJs, live entertainment, and hosts large parties and special events, especially during game days and concerts due to its proximity to Pittsburgh’s major stadiums. The Bar Manager will lead the bar team, engage with guests, maintain beverage standards, control costs, drive sales, and ensure every shift delivers the Shorty’s experience.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of restaurant, bar, or hospitality leadership experience
  • High-volume bar experience strongly preferred
  • A hands-on leader who LOVES being behind the bar and on the floor
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage service
  • Experience leading, training, and developing bartenders and barbacks
  • Strong understanding of beverage cost, inventory, ordering, pars, waste, and labor management
  • Ability to drive sales while maintaining strong cost controls
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective during extremely high-volume shifts
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude, professional presence, and GREAT energy
  • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, game days, concerts, and special events
  • Must be 21+

  • Previous Bar Manager, Beverage Manager, or comparable leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead our bar team and create a positive, energetic, accountable, and FUN culture
  • Recruit, train, coach, develop, motivate, and retain great bartenders and barbacks
  • Run successful high-volume bar shifts from opening through closing
  • Be visible and engaged—we lead from the bar and the floor, not from the office
  • Maintain outstanding beverage quality, consistency, presentation, and speed of service
  • Manage beer, wine, liquor, mixers, and bar supplies
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ordering pars
  • Conduct and oversee beverage inventory
  • Monitor beverage cost, waste, comps, voids, spills, and product loss
  • Maintain strong liquor, beer, and wine cost controls
  • Manage bar labor based on business volume and upcoming events
  • Ensure proper cash-handling and POS procedures are followed
  • Maintain responsible alcohol-service standards
  • Ensure the bar is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for every shift
  • Maintain opening, closing, stocking, and side-work standards
  • Help develop and execute cocktails, drink features, promotions, and game-day offerings
  • Help execute DJs, game days, concerts, large parties, and special events
  • Work closely with vendors and our leadership team on beverage needs and opportunities
  • Engage with guests and create an atmosphere people want to return to
  • Drive beverage sales through great hospitality, strong execution, and team engagement
  • Collaborate with our culinary and management teams to deliver a seamless guest experience
