About The Position

The On Call Server welcomes guests, takes orders, and serves food and beverage items in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner while meeting quality standards. The role maintains supplies and follows cleanliness and sanitation guidelines, helping deliver exceptional guest service. This is an hourly, non-exempt, on-call position in the Banquets department at Sonesta Denver (Downtown), reporting to the Restaurant & Banquets Manager. The listed pay range is $20.00 to $21.00 per hour. The application deadline is November 14, 2026.

Requirements

Food handlers and TIPS certificates are required.
Previous front-facing guest service experience is required.
Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
Must be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work quickly without compromising quality.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
Ability to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for the entire shift.
Ability to work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team.
Must be flexible to work variable days, including weekends and holidays, and variable shifts, including days, nights, and overnights.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching are required.
Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures, such as those in kitchens and freezers.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience as a server in a full-service restaurant, preferably in a fine-dining establishment.
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience with computerized cash registers.

Responsibilities

Greet and acknowledge arriving guests promptly and professionally, engage and interact with them as appropriate, and respond to their questions and requests.
Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu.
Serve food and beverage orders after checking temperature, appearance, and portions; refill when necessary.
Operate the POS system and promptly verify and transmit food orders.
Follow cash-handling and credit-card policies and procedures.
Check in with tables periodically to ensure guest expectations are being met and exceeded.
Maintain the condition and cleanliness of dining areas, stations, and serving equipment.
Complete assigned closing duties and reports.
Follow established safety and sanitation guidelines.
Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
Perform other duties or projects requested by management.
