About The Position

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking an on-call server to join its Banquet team. The role supports hotel service objectives and helps create a memorable guest experience in a busy, fast-paced environment. The server handles service preparation and service delivery according to hotel standards, provides friendly, discreet, and unobtrusive guest service, and follows established service sequences and procedures. The position also requires knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and proper service, so menu items can be explained to guests. Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States.

Requirements

At least 2 years of serving experience in an upscale banquet establishment.
Good knowledge of food and general knowledge of beverages, including wines and cocktails.
Ability to multitask.
Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
Physical strength and stamina to carry food trays and stand for long periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 25 pounds.
Must have work authorization in the United States.

Responsibilities

Handle activities related to banquet service, including preparation tasks and service delivery in accordance with hotel standards.
Provide friendly, discreet, and unobtrusive service while greeting, seating, and waiting on guests.
Perform pre-service and after-service procedures according to standards.
Follow the established sequence-of-service standards accurately.
Use consistent and correct service techniques across all meal periods.
Understand food and beverage items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and proper service, and explain menu items to guests.
