About The Position

The Banquet Server serves food and beverages at banquet functions in a timely manner and as part of a team. The role is responsible for setting up, serving, and cleaning up catered events according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and completing banquet side work assigned by the Banquet Captain, Assistant Director of Banquets, or Director of Banquets. The server maintains consistent standards, attends to guests’ needs, and may work in other banquet roles or departments as scheduling and business needs require. The position reports equipment repair needs to the Banquet Captain or Director.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand instructions for equipment use, tools, safety rules, methods, and procedures.
• Some verbal and mathematical skills.
• Ability to apply common sense and carry out instructions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to extend arms and hands, and seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects by hand.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and 1–25 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Ability to work outdoors in fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather.
• Ability to stand and walk for a significant number of hours.
• Ability to work quickly in a high-pressure environment while remaining calm, respectful, and polite.
• Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes.

Responsibilities

• Set up, serve, and clean up catered events according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Perform banquet side work as designated by the Banquet Captain, Assistant Director of Banquets, or Director of Banquets.
• Ensure standards are consistent at all times.
• Attend to guests’ needs during functions.
• Work as a bartender, cocktail server, buffet attendant, cashier, host/hostess, or coffee break attendant as scheduling needs arise.
• Cross-utilize in all Banquet Operations departments as business dictates.
• Report banquet equipment repair needs to the Banquet Captain or Director.
