About The Position

The Bakery Clerk provides product suggestions and assists customers with questions and special orders. The role stocks display cases and maintains a selection of high-quality bakery items while following food safety and sanitation requirements. Duties also include cleaning and sanitizing bakery and preparation areas and equipment, packaging and labeling baked goods, sorting products from the oven when needed, and filling product orders on the sales floor. Cake decorating or baking duties may be performed only after the employee is fully trained and approved.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and build rapport.
Maintain a friendly, outgoing manner through appropriate eye contact and body language.
Respond effectively to customer questions.
Stock products and maintain displays according to merchandising standards.
Perform basic department cleaning and upkeep.
Follow safety and sanitation procedures to maintain quality service and products.
Package, label, date, and handle baked goods properly.
Sort baked goods from the oven when needed.
Fill product orders on the sales floor.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Perform cake decorating or baking duties only when fully trained and approved.
