About The Position

The Bakery Associate delivers “best in class” customer service to guests at the bakery counter and on the sales floor. The role includes packaging, pricing, and labeling bakery products; keeping shelves stocked and rotated; and maintaining a clean, organized department. The associate also helps customers choose products, answers questions about bakery items and ingredients, takes and fulfills orders, and assists bakers with preparation tasks as needed. The position is under the general supervision of the Bakery Manager.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old due to required operation of bakery equipment.
Eagerness to interact with customers.
Strong sense of teamwork and ability to anticipate team needs.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to take initiative and make independent decisions about department needs and priorities under general supervision.
Excellent time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and push or pull for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Serve Bakery Department customers while modeling Sendik’s culture by greeting, engaging, delighting, and thanking every guest.
Answer questions about bakery products and ingredients.
Assist customers with product selection and offer suggestions.
Fill and maintain the bakery case.
Package, price, and label items for the sales floor.
Stock and rotate bakery products on the sales floor.
Take and fulfill bakery orders by phone and in person.
Complete daily cleaning duties in the Bakery Department.
Assist bakers with pouring batter, panning bakery items, and preparing products for baking as needed.
Assist with training and mentoring new Bakery Department associates.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety and sanitation regulations and procedures.
Assist with other Bakery Department duties as needed.
