About The Position

The Bakery Associate provides best-in-class customer service to guests at the bakery counter and on the sales floor. The role packages, prices, and labels bakery products; fills, stocks, and rotates products; and helps keep the department clean, safe, and organized. The Bakery Associate answers questions about products and ingredients, assists customers with selections, and takes and fulfills orders. The associate may also help bakers prepare products for baking and assist with training new department associates. The position works under the general supervision of the Bakery Manager.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old due to required operation of bakery equipment.
• Eagerness to interact with customers.
• Strong sense of teamwork and ability to anticipate team needs.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take initiative and make independent decisions about department needs and priorities under general supervision.
• Excellent time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and push or pull for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Serve Bakery Department customers by greeting, engaging, delighting, and thanking guests.
• Answer questions about bakery products and ingredients.
• Help customers select bakery products and offer suggestions as needed.
• Fill and maintain the bakery case.
• Package, price, and label items for the sales floor.
• Stock and rotate bakery products on the sales floor.
• Take and fulfill bakery orders by phone and in person.
• Complete daily cleaning duties in the Bakery Department.
• Assist bakers with pouring batter, panning bakery items, and preparing products for baking as needed.
• Assist with training and mentoring new Bakery Department associates.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety and sanitation regulations and procedures.
• Assist with other Bakery Department duties as needed.
