About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods through a global supply chain network. The Bakery Associate works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock bakery products while supporting the store’s financial interests. The role also involves meeting guest-experience standards and complying with company safety and food-safety guidelines. The associate may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. The position is in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate, and travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including understanding basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Detail oriented.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, and standing and walking for extended periods.
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce bakery products according to the production planner.
Package and label bakery products according to the program plan.
Merchandise bakery products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with bakery products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Notify the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
