About The Position

The Bag Handler loads bags of soiled linen onto rail or conveyor systems to supply sort/count workstations for processing and assists those workstations as needed. The role transfers soiled-linen slings and carts to the washroom and clean-linen slings and carts to the Flatwork area. The Bag Handler may also clean empty carts and perform other tasks as needed.

The position works in production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, where conditions may include temperature variations, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. Soiled linens come from customers including restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and shops. The position requires meeting the physical demands of the job throughout the entire shift. Travel is not required, and no education is listed.

Requirements

• Recognize colors and sizes and count accurately.
• Recognize colors, sizes, and different products.
• Comprehend and follow directions.
• Meet the physical requirements of the job and sustain the physical demands for the entire shift.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, constantly lifting up to 100 lbs., seeing, hearing, and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Meet efficiency and safety standards for the position.
• Follow instructions as directed by supervision.
• Clean carts/bins as needed.
• Keep the work area clean.
• Work in other production positions as needed.
