About The Position

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a Back Server to join its Food & Beverage team. The role supports restaurant service in a busy, fast-paced environment and contributes to a memorable guest experience while following the hotel’s service standards. The Back Server prepares for service, performs service tasks, and completes after-service procedures. The role requires friendly, discreet service, accurate knowledge of menu items, and the ability to maintain consistent service techniques across meal periods.

The salary is $14.85 per hour plus tips. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar position in an upscale restaurant.
• Basic knowledge of beverages, including wines and cocktails.
• Ability to multitask.
• Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
• Physical strength and stamina to carry food trays and stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 25 lbs.
• Must have work authorization in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for restaurant service and complete after-service procedures in accordance with hotel standards.
• Perform restaurant service activities and provide friendly, discreet, and unobtrusive service when greeting, seating, and waiting on guests.
• Follow the standards for the sequence of service accurately.
• Use consistent service techniques for all meal periods.
• Understand and accurately explain food and beverage items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and proper service.
• Assist with training.
