About The Position

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a Back Server to join its Food & Beverage team. The role supports restaurant service by preparing for service, following hotel standards, and helping deliver a memorable guest experience. It involves welcoming, seating, and serving guests with friendly, discreet, and unobtrusive service; following service sequences and techniques consistently across meal periods; and completing pre-service and after-service procedures. The Back Server must understand the food and beverage items guests order, including ingredients, preparation methods, and appropriate service, and be able to explain menu items. The position requires at least two years of experience in a similar role at an upscale restaurant, basic beverage knowledge, multitasking ability, and the physical capacity to carry trays, stand for extended periods, and lift, carry, and balance up to 25 pounds. Work authorization in the United States is required. Compensation is $14.85 plus tips.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar position in an upscale restaurant.
• Basic knowledge of beverages, including wines and cocktails.
• Ability to multitask.
• Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
• Physical strength and stamina to carry food trays, stand for long periods, and lift, carry, and balance up to 25 lbs.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform restaurant service activities, including preparation tasks, training, and service according to hotel standards.
• Provide friendly, discreet, and unobtrusive service when greeting, seating, and waiting on guests.
• Assist with pre-service and after-service procedures according to standards.
• Understand and accurately follow the established sequence of service.
• Ensure service techniques are consistent across all meal periods.
• Understand ordered food and beverage items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and proper service, and explain menu items.
