About The Position

The Autonomous Vehicle Operator works on-site in South San Francisco, California, operating Nuro test vehicles in manual and autonomous modes for up to eight hours per day. The role supports the development of self-driving technology by safely navigating real-world traffic and road conditions, collecting driving data with Nuro software and equipment, and providing detailed feedback to engineering teams. Operators monitor vehicle systems and surrounding conditions, conduct pre- and post-shift checks, report issues, perform basic vehicle upkeep, troubleshoot operational issues with Mission Operations, and document their work. The work involves extended periods sitting and driving, sometimes alone and occasionally with a co-driver, as well as physical activity such as bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Operators must remain prepared for abrupt vehicle braking, swerving, slowing, or stopping. The role may occasionally involve speaking with members of the public or supporting ridealongs for company leaders, investors, engineers, and other guests.
