Automotive Technician - New Hire Bonus up to $5,000
About The Position
As a Mechanical Associate, you will help ensure each vehicle meets CarMax’s standards for safety, reliability, and performance. You will inspect and/or diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles, including work on engines, brakes, steering, and suspension systems. The role involves collaborating with a skilled team and working on domestic and foreign vehicles while upholding CarMax’s standards for customer satisfaction, trust, and quality. The position is based in a modern, climate-controlled facility. CarMax describes ongoing training, advanced tools, and a collaborative environment to support associate growth. Employees are expected to follow Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
Requirements
- Experience in engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, and HVAC systems, based on the needs of the role.
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Skilled at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2).

Benefits
- Up to $5,000 new-hire bonus based on experience level.
- Accrue up to 48 hours of sick time per year.
- 80 to 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
- Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
- Holiday Premium Pay for eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
- Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holiday, subject to manager approval.
