About The Position

The Automotive Service Porter supports dealership service operations by welcoming customers, helping coordinate their service visits, and moving vehicles through the service area. The role also helps maintain organized work and parking areas, supports the Service Receptionist and shuttle driver as needed, and performs clerical tasks or other duties assigned by service management. This is an onsite position at BMW of Des Moines in Urbandale, Iowa, reporting to the Service Manager. The schedule is flexible and requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Pay is $15.00 per hour.

Requirements

Acceptable driving record and a valid driver's license in the state of residence.
At least 1 year of automotive experience.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must be 18 years or older.
Open availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome service customers in a friendly and courteous manner and assist them promptly.
Install disposable seat covers, steering wheel covers, and floor mats in vehicles arriving for service.
Identify the service advisor assigned to each customer appointment and notify that advisor.
Drive vehicles from the service lane to their proper places in the service parking lot.
Retrieve customer vehicles from the parking lot when bills are paid or as directed by the advisor.
Maintain a neat and organized parking lot and a clean, organized work area.
Assist the Service Receptionist with incoming telephone calls, answering promptly and professionally.
Assist the shuttle driver when needed.
Perform clerical tasks assigned by service management.
Report situations or conditions that could jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its employees, or customers.
Maintain a valid local area driver's license and immediately inform management of changes in its status.
Perform other duties as assigned.
