About The Position

Malloy Ford in Charlottesville is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Automotive Service Dispatcher to coordinate workflow among service advisors, technicians, and parts departments. The dispatcher assigns repair orders, manages technician workloads, and helps service operations run smoothly and efficiently. The role requires prioritizing work, communicating effectively, and adapting to a fast-paced environment to support shop productivity and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of automotive repair processes and terminology.
• Familiarity with dealership or shop management software.

Nice To Haves

• Additional automotive or business training.
• Previous experience in an automotive service or dispatch role is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign repair orders to technicians based on skill level, availability, and job priority.
• Monitor repair progress to support timely completion and quality standards.
• Coordinate with service advisors to understand customer needs and promised timelines.
• Communicate with the parts department to track parts availability and reduce delays.
• Adjust dispatch schedules throughout the day to maintain balanced workflow.
• Ensure work is documented properly and repair orders are closed out efficiently.
• Help optimize labor hours by reducing technician idle time.
• Maintain accurate records of technician productivity and efficiency.
• Serve as a point of contact between the front-end service team and the shop floor.
• Assist with technician time-clock management and flag time reconciliation issues.
