About The Position

Bettenhausen Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Ram is seeking a service dispatcher to join its growing team in Lockport, Illinois. The dispatcher/shop manager organizes, leads, and controls the flow of work through the service department in a professional and timely manner while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to customers. The role calls for a commitment to fixing issues on the first visit and going above and beyond for customers and the team.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of service dispatch experience or 3 or more years of experience as a dealership service advisor.
• Technical automotive knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to manage others.
• Organized and friendly personality.
• Automotive dealership experience required.
• Availability to work one evening per week and rotating Saturdays, 1–2 per month.

Responsibilities

• Work with the service team to maintain customer satisfaction ratings.
• Ensure all documents needed by technicians are readily available and accounted for.
• Work toward forecasted goals established by service management.
• Maximize technician hours through fair dispatching practices and daily monitoring of individual technician hours.
• Assign jobs based on technician level to meet warranty standards.
• Monitor technician staff to promote efficient and safe work practices.
• Check job status as often as necessary, at least twice per shift, and report changes in promised completion times to the service advisor.
• Open and close repair orders as needed, including managing Prep ROs, UCI's, and CPOV's.
• Handle routine complaints from staff and customers.
• Ensure technicians follow warranty material disposition procedures.
• Spot-check repair orders submitted by technicians to verify that assigned work has been performed.
• Monitor and mentor technicians at all levels, including lube technicians, apprentices, and master technicians; gather feedback, document it, and discuss it with service management to promote team improvement.
• Spot-check repairs to ensure quality and timely completion.
• Maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness in the shop, storage/tool room, and service lot.
• Maintain and manage special-tool inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
