About The Position

The Service Dispatcher plans, organizes, leads, and controls the flow of service work through the service department in a professional and timely manner, while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to customers. The role requires automotive technical knowledge as an auto technician, service advisor, or service manager.

Responsibilities

Schedules shop work to maximize productivity and hours in accordance with department objectives and technician skill levels.
Prioritizes and controls comeback repairs to ensure proper and prompt attention.
Ensures repair orders include proper documentation, including the complaint, cause, correction, and punch time for each operation.
Frequently reviews job status, records updates, and reports changes to time or cost estimates to the appropriate service advisor.
Maintains an organized, up-to-date repair log.
Prepares estimates when required.
Reviews technicians’ completed repair orders to verify assigned work was performed and documentation is complete.
Opens and closes repair orders.
Ensures technicians follow warranty material disposition procedures.
Coordinates parts requirements with the parts department and contacts customers with special-order parts promptly to schedule appointments.
Advises the parts manager and service manager of recurring shortages so corrective action can be taken.
Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings.
Maintains a clean work area and professional appearance.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
