About The Position

The Automotive Service Dispatcher plans, organizes, leads, and controls the flow of service work through the service department in a professional and timely manner, while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to customers. The role requires automotive technical knowledge, such as experience as an auto technician, service advisor, or service manager.

Responsibilities

Schedule shop work to maximize productivity and hours in accordance with department objectives and the skill level required for each job.
Prioritize and control comeback repairs to ensure they receive proper and prompt attention.
Ensure repair orders are properly documented, including the customer complaint, cause, correction, and punch time for each operation.
Frequently review job status, log updates, and report changes in time or cost estimates to the appropriate service advisor.
Maintain an organized and up-to-date repair log.
Prepare estimates when required.
Review technicians’ completed repair orders to confirm assigned work was performed and documentation is complete.
Open and close repair orders.
Ensure technicians follow warranty material disposition procedures.
Coordinate parts requirements with the parts department and contact customers about special-order parts upon receipt to schedule appointments.
Advise the parts manager and service manager of recurring shortages so corrective action can be taken.
Maintain high customer satisfaction ratings.
Maintain a clean work area and professional appearance.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
