About The Position

Napleton Downtown Chicago is seeking an Automotive Sales Consultant to join their team. This role involves assisting customers in finding the right vehicle, guiding them through the sales process from initial contact to vehicle delivery. The dealership represents five brands: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hyundai, and Genesis, offering a diverse product range and a high-volume market. The position is ideal for individuals who are trustworthy, follow through on commitments, and are motivated by performance-based compensation. Salespeople who learn all five product lines are encouraged to outsell those who focus on only one.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a genuine willingness to talk to strangers.
  • Self-motivation; ability to work independently without constant supervision.

  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Availability to work a retail schedule, including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and qualify walk-in traffic, understanding customer needs before presenting vehicles.
  • Respond promptly to internet leads and phone inquiries.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and test drives.
  • Clearly and honestly present pricing, payment options, and trade-in values.
  • Cross-shop within the dealership's brands to retain customers who might otherwise be lost.
  • Ask for the sale, handle objections, and close deals.
  • Maintain consistent contact with unsold prospects to facilitate future sales.
  • Stay in touch with past customers for referrals, service, and repeat business.
  • Log all interactions in the CRM system.
  • Become proficient in the product details of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hyundai, and Genesis, including specific features, packages, and competitive positioning.
  • Understand and explain EV specifics such as charging, range in winter, home charger installation, public charging, and incentives.
  • Learn the family-hauler vehicle ladder and commercial/fleet programs.
  • Complete manufacturer certification training (paid by the company).
  • Stay current on new and pre-owned inventory and available incentives.
  • Coordinate with the finance team and management on deal structure.
  • Perform thorough vehicle deliveries, including setting up connected services and pairing phones.
  • Follow up post-sale to ensure customer satisfaction and earn good survey scores.
  • Represent the dealership professionally in the community.
