Automotive Manager in Training/General Service Technician
About The Position
Midas is seeking an Automotive Manager in Training/Service Writer for a Store Manager developmental role. The position supports the Store Manager and works in both the front and back shop as needed, combining customer service and sales with basic automotive service tasks while training to handle phone calls, schedule appointments, and interact with customers. Midas provides training and promotes from within. The role involves consulting with customers, coordinating requested services and completion estimates, overseeing vehicle inspections, preparing computerized repair orders, sourcing parts, and discussing estimates and service specials. It also includes overseeing technicians’ work, maintaining inventory and facility organization, and performing basic services such as oil changes and tire rotations. Compensation includes hourly base pay, overtime, and performance-based bonuses and commissions.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service by listening to and consulting with customers.
- Follow up with customers regarding requested services and estimated completion times.
- Oversee complete vehicle inspections and make comprehensive recommendations.
- Build computerized repair orders and source parts.
- Deliver and discuss pricing estimates with customers and promote shop service specials.
- Oversee technicians’ inspections, diagnosis, and repair of domestic, European, and Asian cars and light trucks.
- Maintain inventory counts.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
- Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and basic technician jobs.
- Handle phone calls, set appointments, and interact with customers while training for store management responsibilities.
- Work in both the front and back shop as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
