Automated Sideload Garbage Driver (Opa Locka FL)
About The Position
Waste Connections is hiring an Automated Side Load/Automated Front Load Driver in Opa Locka, Florida. This is a full-time, year-round position operating a garbage truck on assigned routes to collect commercial solid waste. Pay is $23–$25 per hour, depending on experience, with a workweek of approximately 50–55 hours. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Routes are guaranteed on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; Wednesday or Saturday serves as the fifth day, but driving is not guaranteed on that day. The role involves operating vehicle hydraulic systems to empty containers, completing vehicle inspections, following assigned routes and safety protocols, and interacting courteously with customers. Work is physically demanding and takes place outdoors, with possible exposure to weather, fumes, vibration, noise, and moving mechanical parts. Requirements
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds without accommodation.
- At least two years of stable job history, with the most recent job being a CDL driver position.
- At least two years of CDL driving experience.
- No accidents on driving record in the last five years.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate an Automated Side Load/Automated Front Load garbage truck on specified routes to collect commercial solid waste.
- Operate hydraulic systems to empty containers and ensure accurate, timely waste collection and disposal.
- Interact courteously with customers while performing the job.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Follow safety protocols during collection and disposal.
- Load and unload waste from front-load containers as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck and work area.
- Follow route sheets and service each customer assigned by the dispatcher.
