About The Position

GAINSCO is seeking a Claims Representative – Level I to investigate, evaluate, and resolve auto insurance claims. The role works directly with insureds, claimants, witnesses, employers, and other parties to resolve claims in accordance with company policies and state regulations. The position follows a hybrid schedule and may occasionally require weekend work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• An active Adjuster License is required; additional licenses may be required upon hire, and all licenses must be maintained according to state requirements.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Claims Adjuster in auto insurance.
• At least 1 year of experience handling liability claims in an auto insurance claims department.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult customers.
• Effective negotiating skills.
• Ability to gather and analyze information, evaluate results, and choose an appropriate solution.
• Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 1 year of experience managing moderately complex coverage issues related to auto claims.
• Understanding of coverage for non-standard auto insurance claims.

Responsibilities

• Establish proof of loss by reviewing submitted documentation and gathering additional information from claimants, witnesses, physicians, employers, hospitals, other insurers, and outside sources.
• Investigate liability disputes and questionable claims.
• Resolve claims by approving or denying documentation, calculating benefits, initiating payments, or preparing denial letters.
• Ensure legal compliance with company guidelines, policies, and state and federal insurance regulations.
• Assign field appraisers to assist with investigations.
• Manage time, multiple tasks, and organization to handle a high volume of claims.
• Gather and evaluate coverage information; take recorded statements; and obtain police reports, repair estimates, and other related documents.
