About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. The AU Globe Living-Learning Community is supported by the AU Globe Program Leader (AGPL) position, which is a part-time student staff member. The AGPL fulfills a vital role in supporting the faculty and sophomore students by helping them to integrate learning experiences gained from both inside and outside of the associated classroom environment. The primary function of the AGPL is to facilitate interpersonal relationships and to create a Living-Learning environment that maximizes the opportunities for students to learn and grow. The AGPL reports to University College & Sophomore Living-Learning Communities staff and is expected to work closely with the AU Globe Faculty Liaison and other faculty supporting and teaching in the community, and other staff members (other ACPLs, Resident Assistants, etc.). Emphasis is placed on the concept that the AGPL is an active and integral staff member within the campus community. The AGPL is in a position of responsibility and leadership and is expected to be proactive in their work.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled AU student.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly and professionally with faculty, supervisors, and G.L.O.B.E. staff.
  • Support students academically and socially, promoting engagement in both coursework and co-curricular activities.
  • Serve as a resource, helping students navigate university life and connect with appropriate services.
  • Other duties assigned.
