About The Position

New Student Initiatives is hiring a team of New Student Leaders for the 2026-27 Academic Year. This role involves welcoming new students, their families, and guests to the University, helping them find their sense of belonging, and creating a positive, memorable, and fun atmosphere. The New Student Leaders will be dedicated to engaging new students with campus events and resources. Responsibilities include event planning, design, logistics, and day-of support for in-person events, as well as creating engaging social media content and collaborating with campus partners for various activities.

Requirements

• Candidate must attend New Student Initiative events
• Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno in good academic standing
• Candidate must have attended one full Fall or Spring semester at the University of Nevada, Reno
• Candidate excels at working in a team environment under pressure
• Candidate is excited to work on campus to create events welcoming new students and families to campus
• Candidate is a positive role model for new students and an enthusiastic ambassador for the University
• Student must be enrolled in 15 credits or more each semester (unless in their last semester before graduation)
• Minimum GPA of 2.75
• Must have attended one full Fall or Spring Semester at the university in order to apply

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of photography, marketing, and social media platforms
• Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and assist with campus partners and campus events
• Create engaging content for the NSI social media
• Assist with event planning, design, logistics, and day of support for in-person events
• Attend a minimum of two New Student Initiative events each month
• Help with Spring Orientation in January, and Orientation Leader Recruitment for next summer
• Gain leadership, development, and event management training
