About The Position

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking a part-time Athletic Operations Assistant to support weekend operations and upkeep at parks in the South Region of Mecklenburg County. Work includes setting up and breaking down athletic events such as races, tournaments, seasonal league games, and special events; maintaining park cleanliness and amenities; responding to inquiries from the public and event patrons; and helping ensure guest safety. The position works up to 19 hours per week, primarily on weekends, depending on business needs. Applicants may also be considered for similar roles at other Park and Recreation locations if they meet the minimum qualifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver’s license and County Driving Privileges.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• General knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of athletic operations programming and instruction.
• Skill in developing and enforcing park rules and safety procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to organize and present demonstrations in an area of specialization.
• Demonstrated adaptability, applied learning, trust-building, communication, customer focus, initiative, and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person customer service at a park facility and respond to inquiries from the general public.
• Ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
• Enforce rules and regulations.
• Assist with maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
• Handle public inquiries and complaints.
• Assist with special events, including setup and breakdown of athletic events.
• May collect fees for facility rentals.
