Part Time Athletic Operations Assistant- South Region (19hr/week)
About The Position
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking a part-time Athletic Operations Assistant to support weekend operations and upkeep at parks in the South Region of Mecklenburg County. Duties include setting up and breaking down athletic events such as races, tournaments, seasonal league games, and special events; maintaining park cleanliness and amenities; responding to questions and complaints from the public and event patrons; and helping ensure guest safety. The position may also collect fees for facility rentals. Work is up to 19 hours per week and will primarily consist of weekends, based on business needs. Applicants may also be considered for similar roles at other Park and Recreation locations if they meet the minimum qualifications. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation provides recreational amenities and programs, hosts community events, and manages parks, nature preserves, greenways, and facilities across the county. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs and a supervisor’s request. Designated positions may be required to assist in emergency or disaster situations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required.
- Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver’s license and County Driving Privileges.
- CPR/First Aid.
- General knowledge of various computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of athletic operations programming and instruction.
- Skills in developing and enforcing park rules and safety procedures, managing multiple tasks concurrently, and organizing and presenting demonstrations in an area of specialization.
- Abilities in adaptability, applied learning, building trust, communication, customer focus, initiating action, and safety awareness.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-person customer service in a park facility and respond to inquiries from the general public.
- Ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Assist with maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
- Handle inquiries and complaints from the public.
- Assist with special events, including setup and breakdown of athletic events.
- Maintain park cleanliness and upkeep of park amenities.
- May collect fees for facility rentals.
