About The Position

The Associate Project Manager, Engineering Technology supports the development and maintenance of structural engineering applications used in the design and manufacture of wood trusses. The role translates structural engineering principles, building codes, industry standards, and truss-design practices into software requirements and specifications; supports the development and validation of engineering calculations and design functionality; and evaluates application results for structural accuracy and code compliance. The position works across structural engineering, product management, software development, user experience, quality assurance, sales, and field teams throughout the product-development lifecycle. It contributes to user stories, acceptance criteria, technical reviews, functional testing, validation, release readiness, and post-release improvements. The role also develops technical documentation and validation criteria, provides guidance and training, helps resolve complex truss-design and application questions, and tracks changes in relevant codes, standards, and practices. This is a full-time, exempt position performed remotely within the U.S. Domestic and international travel of up to 10% is required. Relocation is not available. The role operates in a professional office environment and frequently uses standard office equipment.

  • Familiarity with TPI or TPIC standards and their application to truss design and manufacturing.
  • Experience using truss-design software or other structural engineering applications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, software development, user experience, quality assurance, sales, and field personnel.
  • Experience with both United States and Canadian building codes.
  • Direct experience in a truss fabrication facility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain engineering requirements and specifications for applications used in wood-truss design and manufacturing.
  • Translate structural engineering principles, building codes, industry standards, and truss-design practices into clear software-development requirements.
  • Support development and validation of engineering calculations, design logic, load applications, member and connection design, and other structural functionality.
  • Evaluate application results for structural accuracy, code compliance, and alignment with accepted engineering practice.
  • Investigate technical issues and recommend corrections or enhancements based on engineering analysis.
  • Collaborate with structural engineering, product management, software development, user experience, quality assurance, sales, and field teams to develop and improve applications.
  • Contribute engineering expertise to user stories, acceptance criteria, technical reviews, functional testing, structural validation, release readiness, and post-release improvements.
  • Explain truss-engineering concepts and requirements to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Provide technical input on customer and industry needs and help distinguish engineering requirements from product, usability, and software-development requirements.
  • Create and maintain engineering specifications, validation criteria, technical documentation, and supporting materials.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to internal engineering teams, other application stakeholders, and external customers.
  • Support investigation and resolution of complex truss-design and application-related questions.
  • Monitor changes in building codes, design standards, construction practices, and truss-industry requirements and help assess their effects on engineering applications.
