About The Position

Syracuse Alliance Church, a multi-generational and multi-ethnic Bible-believing church in Syracuse’s Valley neighborhood, is seeking an Associate Pastor. The church’s mission is to magnify Jesus Christ and empower God’s people to share the Good News of the gospel. The Associate Pastor supports the Lead Pastor in shepherding the congregation through pastoral care, discipleship, and ministry oversight. The role provides leadership to key fellowship and youth ministries, assists with ordinances and church administration, and helps promote the church’s spiritual health and operational effectiveness. The position is tailored to the strengths, skills, and gifts of the person hired and calls for joyful, humble service and a heart for people. The role has a particular emphasis on youth and family ministry. The church’s Youth and Family Ministry serves youth in local and commuter communities and their families, seeking to offer a hospitable church home centered on the Word of God as its only source of truth. The Associate Pastor will support youth and families through pastoral care, ministry leadership, relationship-building, and programs that help students participate in the life and mission of the church. This is a part-time position with no fewer than 32 expected hours per week, including a minimum of 22 hours in the office. The position requires licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance; candidates must have current C&MA accreditation or be willing to begin the licensing process with the Northeastern District once on staff.

A degree in ministry, theology, or a related field, or equivalent ministry training.
Proven ministry experience.
Current C&MA accreditation or willingness to begin the C&MA licensing process with the Northeastern District once on staff.

Responsibilities

Share preaching and teaching responsibilities as needed, delivering biblical, relevant, and Spirit-led messages.
Partner with the Lead Pastor to officiate weddings and funerals and provide pastoral care to families as needed.
Connect new attendees with pathways to membership, baptism, service, small groups, and spiritual growth.
Create and maintain a Communion schedule in coordination with the Elders.
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor on strategic initiatives aligned with the church’s mission and vision.
Represent the church in the community, build relationships, and create opportunities for outreach and service.
Provide pastoral care, counseling, and home visitation to youth and families.
Connect with and follow up with newcomer families, welcoming them into the church fellowship.
Create and shepherd a bi-weekly middle school Youth Sunday School by guiding, mentoring, and discipling the relevant ministry team.
Be a visible, relational presence at student gatherings, retreats, and events to invest in students and multiply impact.
Assess ministry needs and develop programs and activities, such as holiday outreaches, Vacation Bible School, tutoring programs, and other outreach events.
