About The Position

Ligonier Alliance Church in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, is seeking a pastor as Rev. L. C. McDonnell retires after 66 years of ministry among the church and its predecessor congregations. The church is affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance and the WPA District. About 40 people gather weekly, with worship attendance listed as approximately 58–64. The congregation describes itself as close-knit, faithful, welcoming, and committed to preaching the Word. It hopes to grow attendance, reach its community, and connect with youth and young families while avoiding radical or disruptive change. The pastor will serve a congregation that values preaching God's Word, worship music, marriage between a man and a woman, Communion, baptism, discipleship, and ministry involvement. The church is open to various Bible translations and to traditional hymns as well as praise and worship songs. Sunday worship typically begins at 10:45 a.m. and includes traditional hymns and a sermon of roughly 30 minutes; Communion is observed on the first Sunday of each month. The church also offers Sunday school and a Wednesday night service. The pastor and church board share leadership through a mutual relationship, exchanging input and ideas. The congregation hopes its next pastor will help develop outreach, particularly among youth and young families, and strengthen ministry participation. The church is open to candidates with varied experience, including someone just out of seminary, and seeks a pastor who will faithfully uphold its spiritual beliefs. Licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance is required. The church offers an acceptable salary, health care, and retirement; specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process and follow District guidelines. The congregation hopes its next pastor will stay seven years or more.
