About The Position

Somerset Alliance Church is seeking a pastor to prayerfully discern God’s direction, faithfully teach Scripture, and lead with humility, authenticity, and love. The pastor will build on the church’s existing strengths rather than trying to remake it after a previous ministry, while encouraging healing, unity, and trust among leaders, staff, and the congregation. The role includes equipping and developing lay leaders, promoting meaningful discipleship across generations, and leading compassionate community outreach. The church hopes for a unifying, Spirit-led shepherd who will help it grow in Christlikeness, deeper community, and effective ministry in Somerset and beyond. High-priority expectations are vision casting and stewardship of the church’s vision, preaching and teaching, and administration. People development, prophetic vision, and community engagement are moderately high priorities. Entrepreneurial leadership, mission mobilization, and counseling and care are moderately low priorities. Somerset Alliance Church is in Somerset, Pennsylvania, in the Laurel Highlands. Its worship is contemporary, incorporates updated hymns and choruses, and is intended to be Jesus-centered and Spirit-led. The church identifies priorities including strengthening small-group community, developing lay leaders, and improving partnership between the governing board and staff. Other needs include addressing siloed ministries, facilitating healing from past wounds, strengthening community outreach, supporting discipleship for both new and mature believers, and addressing volunteer and staff needs. The pastor should understand and embrace the area’s culture, and the pastor’s family is expected to reside in the church parsonage. Candidates must be ordained or qualified for ministry accreditation with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. The position requires licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance.
